Super Fox YES or NO–!!!

we have followed the activities of K8R and especially N5J, they are not interested in completing some personal slot, but above all to study and understand the superfox mode, from what we have been able to understand and personally test we do not yet trust this new system, certainly brought to the regime it will be very interesting for expeditions, but for the moment we have decided to stay with our MSHV “improved by ARI Perugia YOTA team”.

I don’t know whats not to “trust”! I, too, have been watching K8R, N5J and now, CY9C. The SF/SH setup seems to be working very well for them. CY9C is at 20k+ contacts in less than 2 days, with a huge signal because of the full power aspect of SF.

In my opinion, the no-power-splitting is the biggest advantage for the SF, in that you will have full power out, all the time. With MSHV/WSJT-X, in F/H mode, your power will be split between the streams and diminish your signal. Perhaps the problems you experienced were with your setup and not the software.

You should have both ready….try SF and, if you cannot make it work, go to MSHV. Experimentation is the essence of our hobby, after all. 🙂

      thanks Tom,
you are absolutely right, the strength is in having all the power on a single transmission, but at the moment the system does not encode below -15 and you will understand that this eliminates the importance of the FT8, and the reason why it was born.
with signals -10 and up you work well in CW, and if they rise a little even in SSB, the FT8 is useful if you are under the noise threshold, but at the moment the superfox does not allow it, we hope and we wish that this will be resolved soon, perhaps in time for our expeditions, then yes we will like to experiment with the new super fox system. 73’s I8KHC

of course if the reception problem is solved we are ready to re-evaluate the situation, at the moment it does not seem convenient to us not to have a system that is designed for low signals, that does not hear low signals. finally CY9c currently has 20k qso in total, 12k qso in FT8 with 2/3 active stations, the same average maintained by TJ9MD with 2 active stations and MSHV!!!
